2023 - 2024
We held conversations discussing community-led design, in practice.
In 2023, we issued a call to action for any and all community-based organizations, resident stakeholders, non-profits, designers, architects, and government partners interested in helping to inform Community Design practice.
With support from Hegardt Foundation, Liberty Hill Foundation, and BCC Charitable Fund, we held Tabled! sessions to discuss the challenges our communities are facing, the joys (and heartbreaks) of work, and began to develop a collective understanding of what community-led design is — in practice.
In 2024, we held our second iteration of our Tabled! series of conversations in collaboration with the Association for Community Design, as a part of their 2024 Core Community Conversations series. We led a national webinar, facilitating a conversation with designers about defining and advancing standards and practices of “community design,” and getting more granular than before about what’s working and where gaps exist.
We continue to ask ourselves, what does it mean to practice community-led design and how can it help shift power to residents?
