We designed multiple structures for the expansion of a Pasadena home.
Expanding and adding to the existing single family home in Pasadena, we designed new structures and renovations to the current house to transform a single residence on a steep hillside into a vibrant collection of living spaces for three generations of family.
When working with private residential clients, we are able to explore and expand on our skills and techniques for adding density in single family neighborhoods in Los Angeles and beyond. This project is an intergenerational-home that includes an extension to an existing house along with a new ADU and a pool house, providing spaces for many family members.
To develop a coherent architectural language, we drew context clues and style hints from the existing house, and combined them with a new collection of ideas, references, expressions, and palettes. Together, the series of new and existing structures create a collective environment for all of the various generations of the family.
