We conducted research and published a report on homeownership opportunities in majority-Latino cities.
Based on our experience with ADUs in South Gate, we conducted mixed-methods research on homeownership opportunities and published a report, “Housing Supply Solutions in Predominantly Latino Cities, South Gate, California: A Comparative Case Study Approach to Understanding ADUs as a Channel for Latino Homeownership.”
As part of UnidosUS’s Home Ownership Means Equity (HOME) initiative and in partnership with the Urban Institute, we received funding to research the impact of ADUs or similar housing supply policies in mid-size, majority-Latino cities adjacent to larger metropolitan areas.
Building on our work in South Gate, California, we took a case-study approach to comparative urban analysis to more holistically draw conclusions across sample cities that differed in political and geographic contexts.
We published a report with historical analysis, graphs, and findings and presented it at the Latino Homeownership Symposium in Washington, DC.
