Free predevelopment, planning, architecture, and design support for community-based organizations creating and preserving affordable housing.
In partnership with L.A. County Affordable Housing Solutions Agency (LACAHSA), OOO is offering free architecture and planning technical assistance through our Community Housing Studio (CHS). The program aims to build the development capacity of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Community Land Trusts (CLTs), and housing organizations working to preserve, acquire, rehabilitate, or develop community-serving housing.
We offer this because we know that community organizations have the vision, trust, and commitment to create and preserve affordable housing. Yet housing development and preservation often require specialized planning, architecture, and design expertise. By providing this support early in the process, CHS helps organizations navigate development, assess feasibility, and make informed decisions. Our goal is to reduce project risk, build organizational capacity, and transform housing ideas into affordable housing units.
Program Details: The Community Housing Studio combines direct technical assistance with workshops tailored to the housing preservation and development needs of Community-Based Organizations. Technical assistance is customized to each organization and may include:

Eligibility: We welcome CBOs, CLTs, CDCs, resident-led organizations and other mission-driven nonprofit housing organizations with projects that include:
Organizations do not need to have a fully developed project to participate. We especially encourage organizations in the early stages of exploring a housing opportunity, when technical guidance can help assess feasibility, shape a project, and inform next steps.
