Originally built in 1892 in a Queen Anne-Victorian style, the existing single family home is situated on a block in a historic district of Los Angeles.

With vivid paint colors and complimentary, saturated floor hues the house has a kaleidoscopic interior that expands the perception of the size of the home into something much larger.

Subject to the HPOZ (Historic Preservation Overlay Zone) review process, the overall character of the ADU playfully references this style while integrating modern colors, forms.
The roofline of the ADU is derived from the historic forms of the main house, while resolving as a folded plane – most visible in the living room and bedroom.
